The county boss said untrained drivers have been giving bribes to traffic police officers at roadblocks so that they can be allowed to operate on the roads in the region.

“Untrained drivers should be blamed for the increased road carnages because they give bribes to police who ends up allowing them to operate on the roads.

"Any driver who will be found attempting or giving a bribe to a police officer will be arrested and taken to court for prosecution,” he said.

Nakoru urged drivers who have not qualified to drive on busy roads to ensure they undergo the required training before they start ferrying passengers.

He challenged the drivers to cooperate with EACC to arrest security officers demanding bribes on the roads.

Nakoru warned police officers against demanding huge bribes from motorist instead of arresting the drivers who don’t meet the required road standards to operate.

“I am committed to ensure zero cases of accidents are reported in Nyamira by ensuring that all officers who ask for bribes are sacked arrested and prosecuted. Vehicles that don’t meet the set road rules will not be allowed to operate on Nyamira roads,” he added.
