Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana said that his administration will establish ten business centres to create job opportunities to the area residents.

Governor Godhana said the county has a high poverty index while the county is rich with a lot of potential in the agricultural, livestock, fisheries and tourism sectors.

He said the county government will seek to take advantage of the available resources and encourage more residents to be involved in various businesses that will improve their livelihoods.

He further said that the business centres will operate along highways and will seek to inform the residents on different business opportunities the residents can be involved in.

Governor Godhana said his administration will focus on creating employment, spur economic development and creating a conducive business environment to attract both foreign and local investors.

“The county will establish ten business centres to create job opportunities and reduce high levels of poverty. If we are to move away from the 76.9% poverty index and transform our county into a business hub, we must desist from doing things in old ways,” said Mr. Godhana as quoted by KNA.

“Plans are also underway to make Hola a vibrant urban centre to attract private investors to bring business and jobs that will help to develop the county and raise the living standards of the locals. We have the potential to transform this county into a business and tourist destination,” he added.
