According to Governor James Ongwae, the decision was arrived at following an audit report on human waste management.

“We have already order these people to voluntarily demolish the buildings before we move in and demolish them since we cannot condone actions that have led to loss of lives and destruction of property,” said the County boss.

The Governor said that they have already agreed with National Construction Authority (NCA) and the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to serve the owners of the building along River banks with adequate notices ahead of the demolition “said Ongwae

He said his government will not sit and watch lives and property lost because of the actions of a few unscrupulous people using the threats of legal battles to intimidate government officers.

“I believe the move is of good course as most of the locals have backed the County move and I want to assure all locals that the demolition will be done in less than a months’ time” said Ongwae

The Governor was speaking on Friday while meeting County disaster management team at his office.
