Speaking on Thursday when he received drugs from KEMSA valued at Sh34 million, Ongwae said the county will receive the drugs in the next two weeks.

“The county is investing more in the health sector to ensure residents get access to proper medical care and get the drugs for free across all the public health centers in the county,” he said.

He vowed to sack any health official in the county who will be found stealing drugs from the public health centers to sell to private clinics.

“Doctors and nurses who will be found stealing drugs from the health centers where they work to stock at the private clinics or sell to private clinic owners risk losing their job" he said.

"The drugs are meant for the patients seeking medical services at public health centers and should be given for free to patients,” he added.

Governor Ongwae urged members of the public to visit public health centers for medical assistance saying the county had equipped the facilities well.

He also promised that he will ensure all peripheral medical facilities in Kisii county that had been fully constructed are opened.
