Locals have said that there is a tree which has been in contact with electric wires for the last five months without proper measures taken by the energy company in salvaging the locals around the vicinity.

“We have raised this issue even to our area chief, but up to date, we have not seen proper measures taken so that the tree is cut down, and this is happening at a critical moment when all school going children are back at home for the holidays,” said a concerned resident.

Area chief, Magrate Nyokabi refuted claims that she refused to act upon the issue, saying that those are people who are out to spread rumours over such serious allegations.

“The claims that I refused to act upon such an issue is not true because even those claiming that the tree has been tangled with electric wire for the last five months have never come to my office. I will take the matter to the KPLC so that they cut it down,” said Nyokabi.

Parents have been urged to advice their children never to play around the area until the tree is cut down.
