The Kenya Community Support Centre-KECOSCE has backed calls by a section of envoys and religious leaders that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga should embrace dialogue.
The peace and security organization Executive Director Phyllis Muema said that the two leaders should embrace dialogue and encourage coexistence among Kenyans.
She said that fresh political bickering was re emerging across the political divide and it was something to worry about especially as peace and security activists at the Coast.
Muema said that politicians do not care about the peacefully coexistence among Kenyans that is why they always propagate for political and tribal divisions in the country.
“None of our politicians want to see a peacefully country, they are only pretending to preach peace but encourage political and tribal divide among Kenyans,” she said.
Muema said that by International community’s intervention and some pushing for fresh electoral reforms, shows the magnitude of the problems Kenya is currently facing.
“By the opposition pushing for electoral reforms in the country it simply means that Kenyans are tired of past bungled elections and they want transparent electoral process in future,” she said.
However, Muema cautioned politicians that they should trade their political affairs carefully so that they do not plunge the country into chaos.
“While politicians were fighting in both the August 2017 general election and the 26th October 2017 presidential rerun, we feared that things will not work out well and we spent day and night preaching peace at the Coast, they should not return us into such situation,” she noted.
Muema insisted that dialogue between the two leaders was very necessary and she called for other peace organizations to support the foreign envoys and religious leaders in pushing for a dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.
