According to Cherargei, the audit plans are targeting Deputy President William Ruto and his allies.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta should stop forcing civil servants to be audited. Auditing peoples' lifestyles will not help in ending escalating cases of corruption in this country. The audit process is meant to bring down DP Ruto’s ambition to become the president,” he said in Eldoret on Friday.

The vocal Jubilee Senator said private rights of civil servants will be violated if the audit plans continue.

He claimed that some powerful Cabinet Secretaries and Permanent Secretaries are working around the clock to derail some politicians’ plans to vie in 2022.

“I support the fight against corruption but the process of weeding out corrupt officials in government should be done in an open manner which will not bring about political hatred. Let us try other means to counter corruption and not using the audit process which will not be transparent and honest,” insisted Cherargei.

The youthful Senator said DP Ruto's presidential ambition will not be derailed by anyone in 2022 and called on leaders from the North Rift to unite and support his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
