A photo of Deputy President William Ruto in which he was pictured at a makeshift hotel in Kisii on Friday has elicited sharp reactions among online community.
During his tour, Ruto had an impromptu stopover on his way to South Mugirango where he took tea along with area leaders led by Governor James Ongwae.
But the photo has been widely criticised by a section of online users who accuse him of 'fake humbleness'.
"Dining in such hotel is not news. They only do it once in a while just for Public Relations otherwise there is nothing special," said Vincent Osumo in Nyamira Politics WhatsApp.
Another user Dominic Oiko said on Facebook: "He should instead tell us about Maize scandal and land grabbing. Pausing for a photo in that makeshift hotel will not attack sympathy."
But a section of residents led by Nyamira's Jubilee nominated MCA George Mosiori lauded the DP adding that his humility is an asset for 2022.
"It is rare to find such crop of leaders. The hustler (Ruto) is humble and down to earth. He is the right candidate for 2022," he said.
Also accompanying the DP were Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba) and Sylvanus Osoro of South Mugirango.
