Speaking Saturday during the launch of Garissa High School alumni, the Garissa Township MP said that he has already tabled the list in parliament.

He assured Kenyans that the Jubilee government is committed to ensuring that the rights of citizens are protected by all means.

He also said that days of illegal businessmen are numbered.

“A report of people who imported sugar that is not fit for human consumption is with a committee of parliament and their names will be known on Tuesday,” said Mr Duale.

He noted that the sugar dealers across the nation will be put to task to account for their dealings in order to determine the loopholes in the business for action to be taken accordingly.

“Sugar tycoons, [whoever] they are, [whichever] regions they come from, will account for their business dealings before the parliamentary committee,” Mr Duale said.

Duale had earlier on faulted Internal security CS Fred Matiang'i for allegedly protecting businessmen behind the importation of the sugar.

The speculation that contraband sugar being sold in the country contains mercury caused an uproar among Kenyans.

Different leaders have been calling for stern action to be taken against suspects.
