Godec, who met opposition leaders on Friday, held a meeting with National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale over NASA’s reforms dialogue.

Top agenda of the meeting that took place at Duale’s office at the Parliament Buildings was the need for Uhuru and Raila to talk.

In a statement after the meeting, Duale said that they talked about the need for both the opposition and the government working together for the interest of the country.

Duale said that the election period was over, noting that Jubilee government is willing to discuss issues of electoral reforms on condition that it’s given space to discharge its mandate.

“The election process is behind us and as such the opposition must give room to the government to discharge its mandate as we discuss their electoral concerns,” he said.

NASA is pushing for electoral reforms and plans to swear in Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as the people’s president and deputy respectively.

The swearing in has been set for January 30 even as the government term it illegal and highly treasonous

Early this week Ambassador Godec met Bungoma senator who is also a principal in NASA coalition and ODM chairman John Mbadi over their reforms agenda.

Godec has cautioned NASA against the planned swearing-in urging the leaders to embrace dialogue with Jubilee administration.

The opposition, on the other hand, says that the ‘window’ for dialogue with Jubilee lapsed long time GO and that it will go on to swear in Raila and Kalonzo as planned.

The government has termed the planned swearing-in as highly treasonous whose punishment is death.
