The National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has heaped praise on Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga terming him as a “brand”.

The Garissa lawmaker said that the opposition leader has a reputation to protect. 

He was speaking at the National Assembly on Wednesday. He urged NASA affiliate political parties not to continue putting pressure on the Luo political kingpin.

 “Raila Odinga is a brand; a statesman who has a reputation to protect,” said Mr. Duale. 

The lawmaker also said that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is the largest party in the alliance has a say, adding that other parties including Wiper, Ford-Kenya and Amani National Congress (ANC) should not continue to blackmail their August 2017 Presidential election candidate. 

The remarks come after President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila agreed to work together for the sake of this nation.  

The meeting of the two has continued to elicit mixed reactions from both factions. 

Nasa co-principals Musali Mudavadi, Senator Moses Wetangula and Wiper’s Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka faulted Raila for meeting Uhuru without their knowledge. 

Uhuru and Raila have pledged to bury their political differences in order to develop the nation in the coming five years. 

The duo has been political arch-rivals.
