Relatives say that Patrick was shocked to hear that her granddaughter had perished in fire and died after 5 days. Whitney Kerubo was his first granddaughter and named after his late wife.

Kerubo was an SDA follower while her grandfather was a catholic. Joint speeches were arranged for both denominations.

Kerubo was born on June 17,2003 while her grandfather was born in 1932.

Whitney was among nine students who perished in a fire tragedy at Moi Girls Secondary School in Nairobi.

Her uncle Bosire said that it was painful that they had to put two of their loved ones in two separate graves on the same day.

"These are matters which are yet to comprehend. My father just became silent on receiving news and it is sad that he will never talk again," said Bosire.
