Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has said that the postponement of NASA leader Raila Odinga's  swearing-in that was slated for Tuesday came as a shocker to him and other NASA politicians.According to Muthama, the majority of NASA politicians did not expect Raila to call off the planned swearing-in at the eleventh hour.Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Monday, the former senator said that plans to inaugurate Raila had been completed.

He said that they were shocked to be informed at the last minute that the planned event will not be taking place.The senator said that while the reasons given for postponement are justifiable, majority of Raila supporters are now disappointed."We did not expect that the event could be terminated at the last minute because everything including the venue had been set ready for Tuesday," he said.The former senator revealed that invitation cards had been sent to guests who were to grace the event and even speeches made.Muthama asked NASA supporters and Kenyans not to give up on Raila saying that he has the interests of the country at heart.The former senator said that the reforms they are pushing are for the benefit of Kenyans and not NASA leaders."We have to remain united for us to win the war against impunity, police brutality, electoral fraud, corruption, tribalism and marginalization" the Ex-Machakos senator said.Raila's much-publicized swearing in was postponed on Sunday to a date that will be announced later.Political analysts observe that Raila could have postponed his controversial swearing-in to allow for dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.Foreign envoys and a section of religious leaders had advised Raila against the swearing in that the government had termed treasonous.
