Detectives are investigating how seats belonging to Nakuru  State House ended up in a hotel linked to a county executive.

The sleuths on Saturday raided the hotel, said to be owned by Education executive Raymond Komen, and questioned manager and other staff on the suspected theft of the seats.

He refuted there being State House seats in the hotel, terming the reports a witch-hunt and a “well-calculated move” aimed at tarnishing his name and that of Governor Lee Kinyanjui.

“We know those spreading falsehoods and why they are doing so,” said Komen.

Komen, however, confirmed that investigators visited the hotel on Saturday evening but did not reveal the reasons for the same.

“A local politician called the police claiming some stolen items were at the hotel. The cops also took away a worker at the hotel for questioning,” he said.

He said the seats found at the hotel were similar to those used at State House and other top hotels around.

A team of detectives from Nairobi was reportedly dispatched to take stock of items at State House in Nakuru. Police did not comment on the matter.
