The ward representatives speaking on Wednesday at Nyamira County assembly led by the Majority Leader Duke Masira, Ekerenyo MCA Thaddeus Nyabaro and a nominated MCA Caroline Mogere said pregnant women will get free medical services.

“No pregnant woman will be asked to pay money for her to get medical services in our public health facilities because the county government will cater for the expenses to ensure no woman dies especially when giving birth due to lack of money that is being charged at the maternity wards,” said Masira.

Nyabaro urged health workers not to ignore women seeking maternity services at the hospitals so that maternal deaths can be reduced.

Mrs. Mogere challenged women to visit health centers for checkup and ensure they deliver their babies at health centers to avoid unnecessary deaths while giving birth at their homes.

“Women should not shy away visiting our hospital because the county has put everything in place to ensure pregnant mothers are attended to well by the health staff members for successful delivery of our babies,” she said.
