National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Managing Director Newton Terer has urged farmers to always go for eye check-ups.

He said most farmers are over 60 years, therefore, need to go for a regular eye checkup.

“I want to call upon farmers to at least go for eye checkup at least once in a year,” he said during eye clinic conducted at the depot, Saturday.

“This is part of our corporate social responsibility where we are giving back to the society in conjunction with the Lion Sight First EyeSight where we gave out sh 400,000 for the exercise.The exercise will be done annually,” he added. 

He, however, urged farmers to take their produce to NCPB and avoid selling them to brokers who buy at a throwaway price of sh 2500.

"Farmers should rest assured that they will be paid promptly after delivering their maize and that NCPB will remain open during the festive,” noted Terer
