Residents of Nyabiosi Mochenwa in Masaba North Nyamira County are mourning the death of a man and his son who died mysteriously.
The deaths occurred on Thursday.
Locals claimed that the man identified as Miruka and his son, Nyamechu, did not complain of any health problem.
“Miruka and his son Nyamechu are well known in the village. They worked hard at their farm until they met their mysteriously death.
"We suspect that they might have been poisoned or bewitched,” said Ouru, Miruka’s younger brother.
Area assistant chief James Guto confirmed the incident and said the two retired to their respective beds on Wednesday night and could not wake up to go to work on Thursday morning.
“Miruka and his son were peace loving people in the area for the years I have served as the chief.
"I was shocked to learn their deaths because they didn’t not fall sick or complain of any health problems. Postmortem will be done on their bodies to establish the cause of their deaths,” he said.
He warned residents against engaging in witchcraft saying anyone who will be found will have to carry his or her own cross.
The local administrator urged members of the public to seek spiritual help whenever they have trouble in life instead of visiting witchdoctors who may advice them wrongly.
