According to an ANC official, Barrack Muluka, Raila had asked the other NASA principals to switch off their phones and he would call them later through a Nigerian line.

Senator Orengo strongly rejected the claims by Barrack Muluka, saying that they were in constant communication with the NASA co-principals.

''I was there. Our going to Uhuru Park took a long time. I was there by the way. We were in constant communication and this thing about a Nigerian number is falsehood. We were in constant communication until the very last moment. If I give you my telephone number, I can show you who I spoke to. When it became apparent that Raila was going to face this alone, Raila called them and said he was going to give their apologies to the congregation,'' the senator said.

Orengo spoke Tuesday night on a mainstream television station.

His words come in the context of a back and forth amongst NASA coalition partners.
