Here are four things you never knew your body does while you sleep.

1. Your body temperature lowers

The body temperature normally goes down while you are sleeping. We burn more calories during the day because of the various activities we engage in and when we sleep, our body temperature goes down to save on the calories. 

2. Cleansing

A full body cleansing takes place while you are asleep. This ensures the body rids itself of toxins. The cleansing allows both the brain and body to rejuvenate. This is why it is important to get a good night's sleep.  

3. The brain forgets useless information

If there is any useless information in your brain then be sure that the brain will forget the same when you sleep.  If you remember everything, then your brain would be full by now. When we sleep, the brain sorts out the information we consume during the day, and only retains the important information.

4. Your brain is more active during sleep than when you're awake

Though your body becomes somewhat paralysed, your brain becomes more active when sleeping than when you are awake. The brain also requires more oxygen when we sleep. It is believed that people have the ability to come up with new innovations when they are sleeping, as sleep improves one's ability to come up with creative solutions to various challenges and problems.
