An 18-year-old girl has died after her phone exploded while she was on a call.

The tragic incident took place in a village in India.

According to dailymail.co.uk, Uma Oram is said to have plugged the device in to charge and was speaking to a relative when the tragedy happened at her home in the village of Kheriakani in the eastern Indian state of Odisha.

Oram's brother said his sister plugged her phone to charge and made a call to a relative before the incident occurred.

"As the battery of the mobile phone was draining out, she plugged it for charging while talking over it simultaneously," Durga Prasad Oram was quoted by dailymail.co.uk

Pictures of the girl as well as the damaged phone went viral on the internet.

A mobile phones manufacturing company which is said to be producers of the phone that exploded denied having manufactured such a phone.

They insisted that they produce high quality handsets that can guarantee user safety.
