The Kiambu High court on Tuesday placed a girl aged 17 years to 6 months probation after she pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter.
The accused engaged in a fight with a man believed to be her husband who succumbed to injuries.
The court heard that the two had sired a daughter who is now 1 year old.
Justice Joel Ngugi in his ruling said the the girl committed the offence while she was 16 years old.
“It is important that she goes through counselling at Siaya Probation hostel for intensive counselling on trauma and probably a good idea to remove her from the social milieu that produced her circumstances” said Justice Ngugi.
Ngugi said while on probation, the girl will learn about life skills and vocational training.
The girl was first charged in court on January 30, 2017 with the offence of murder.
She was accused of killing Hassan Wanyoike Njeri on January 22, 2017 in Kiandutu slums, Thika Sub-county of Kiambu County.
