Harambee Stars Striker Michael Ogada Olunga is expected to gain more confidence, after aiding his Girona FC team to 6-0 win over Las Palmas UD in a Spanish top flight match (La Liga) played over the weekend.

The Striker came off the bench to score three goals in the game, hence becoming the first Kenyan player to score in a La Liga match in history.

Speaking after the match, Girona FC head coach Pablo Machin said he hopes the goals will guarantee the striker confidence moving forward.

"It is not easy to score three goals in one half of play. The goals will surely give him confidence but this cannot make us forget that we have a deficit up front,” the coach is quoted by Catalan daily - Diari de Girona.

"Football is immediate and we still have the same template as before the game against Las Palmas. I have never doubted my players’ qualities but we have a shortage in attack,” added the coach.

Olunga came off the bench in the second half to replace the injured Ricardo Stuani before scoring the three goals in the 57th, 70th and 79th minute respectively.

The player joined Girona last year on a season long loan deal from Chinese Super League side Guizhou Zhicheng.

He previously played for Swedish side Djurgårdens IF, and Kenya Premier league sides Gor Mahia, Tusker FC and Thika United.

He is a product of the Liberty Sports Academy, being run by former Harambee Stars coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee.
