Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is facing a legal battle after he was sued by a former County Executive Committee (CeC) member.
John Gathigi Mugwe, who held the Water, Environment, and Natural Resources ministry in Waititu's government has filed a case at the Labour and Employment Relations Court in Milimani, where he is challenging his dismissal.
This comes after Mugwe was sacked by Waitutu last week.
The case which is under a certificate of urgency with Governor Waititu and the Kiambu County Government listed as respondents is scheduled for hearing on Wednesday.
Mugwe wants the court to stop Governor Waititu from hiring a new official as his replacement. He also wants the court to issue a stay order retaining him as the Water CeC until the case is heard and determined.
Mr Mugwe was sacked over allegations of being incompetent and not being a team player.
"I have observed that you are not keen on delivering your responsibilities, nor is your immediate focus the delivery of service to the residents of Kiambu County. You are also not a good team player, which is affecting the overall performance of your responsibilities and that of the county government as a whole," read the dismissal letter dated May 8, 2018.
Other listed as interested parties include the County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu and clerk John Mutie.
