Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is expected to open this year's most anticipated event, the Wamunyu festivals.
The event dubbed "Show Mashinani" will take place in Wamunyu Market in Machakos County on August 20th to 26th.
According to sources close to the governor, the event will be attended by various prominent political leaders from the Ukambani region. The leaders include Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.
Mutua has in several occasions been spotted with his Makueni counterpart, Kibwana, a move that could be perceived as a strategy to support the former's presidential bid in 2022 polls.
The event is set to bring different traders, talents, cultural groups, and companies together.
Wamunyu area is popularly known for beautiful wooden crafts and this is a good opportunity for the artists to show their talents and get new markets.
"The event will open trade ties and good trade relationships in both ukambani and East Africa. All people from all walks of lives are welcome to come and showcase their products," Mutua said.
The event encourages cultural activities and economic innovations which will be its theme.
