Governor suspends county executive over spending "too much time" on Facebook

Kiambu County Executive Committee (CeC) member for water Mr John Mugwe has been suspended, following what county governor Ferdinand Waititu called overuse of social media.

Waititu said Mugwe was fired because he spent most of his time on social media posting photos instead of fulfilling his mandate to the people of,

"I shall have a meeting with you after the expiry of your leave to agree on your performance and set targets," read the suspension letter.

"If your work is taking pictures and posting them on Facebook and WhatsApp, then we shall not allow that," said Waititu when he was asked about Mugwe's 30-days suspension.

A disappointed Mugwe broke the news of his suspension on social media after he posted what befell him.

"Yours truly John Mugwe has been requested to proceed on leave for a period of 30 working days effective. It is a shock but I hope I will continue serving Kiambu people after 30 days," he posted.
