Harambee Stars coach Paul Put has called up Kenyans from different parts of the nation to turn up in large numbers to back the national team as it takes over Zanzibar during the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup final.

The stadium attracted a handful of supporters when the team played against Libya, Zanzibar, and Tanzania at the group stages.

He was speaking after Stars hammered Burundi 1-0 in the semi-finals at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Thursday.

“I hope it will be the same in Machakos. The people turned up in numbers in both counties (Kakamega and Kisumu) and if you have their support, it makes work easier for the boys,” said the Belgian, as quoted by Daily Nation.

He also asked football fans to cheer the team in other competitions

“I am urging Kenyans to show up and push our team not only in the final tomorrow but also during our Afcon qualifiers.” He said

The national team last bagged the 2013 cup in one of the tantalizing matches that attracted thousands of fans.

Leaders are also expected to appear at the Stadium to support the players.
