Traffic police have unearthed the cause of the Sunday morning accident at the dangerous Migaa blackspot along Salgaa stretch.

Police said the accident, which left up to 34 people dead, was caused by the bus driver.

Rift Valley Traffic Enforcement Officer Zero Arome said the speeding bus which was travelling from Busia was being driven on the wrong lane when it collided with the truck head on.

The truck driver and his loader were among those who died on the spot.

The bus also suffered heavy casualties as 28 bodies were retrieved from the wreckage.

Migaa has become a dangerous spot along the Salgaa route having claimed close to a hundred lives this December alone.

A multiple vehicles crash that happened on Jamhuri day was the latest to claim many lives.
