Kalonzo’s presidential dream depends on different forces.

The former Vice President is no doubt a disturbed man after a section of political leaders from Mount Kenya vowed to support Deputy President William Ruto in his bid for presidency in 2022.

Kalonzo has been hoping that the leaders change tune to back him as he seeks to take over power.

The leaders have, however, said they will only back the second in command if he names one of their own as his running mate when that time comes.

Speaking during a ceremony to commission a newly constructed governor's office at Kathawa in Tharaka Nithi County on Friday, the leaders assured Ruto of their support.

They included Governor Muthomi Njuki,  Senator Mithika Linturi (Meru) MPs,  Gichunge Kabeabea (Tigania East),  Patrick Munene (Chuka/Igambangombe), Halima Mucheke (nominated), Kareke Mbiuki (Maara) and Moses Kirema (Imenti Central) .

"Because we have the numbers,  we have the voice to demand a position in the national leadership," Linturi said.

The declaration comes after Malindi lawmaker Aisha Jumwa said she will back DP Ruto come 2022.

Jumwa maintained that she has done nothing wrong backing the Jubilee leader.

“There is nothing I have done against the party and there are no wrangles between me and my party leader, Raila Odinga, or the ODM party, and my mingling with other people is an extension of the handshake initiated by Raila,” Jumwa said.
