Opposition leader Raila Odinga has successfully managed to fully retain his Luo Nyanza bedrock throughout his political tenure.
The region has always voted as a block in each and every poll and has never disappointed him, passionately and wholly voting in his favor and his allies.
This could be as a result of his many shots at the presidency, giving the region no chance to direct its attention elsewhere and, therefore, sticking to him all along.
Basing on the tribal nature of Kenyan politics, the urge to see the former Premier ascend to the top post has kept the region close, always voting in millions in each contest to assist him achieve the long-time ambition.
The region has never known any other kingpin apart from the National Super Alliance (NASA) chief and his late father Jaramogi Oginga whom he inherited his position from, making it hard for it to venture elsewhere and adopt to a new leadership.
Also, he has not given Luo Nyanza a reason to doubt him as despite losing in all his 4 presidential shots, he has always made a stronger comeback.
His latest one has been his recent truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta, a plan allegedly aimed at landing him a powerful government slot in 2022.
Lastly, his ability to amass a huge following and influence in other regions, including Western Kenya and Coast, has portrayed him as an able and powerful leader, giving his Nyanza supporters every reason to stick around.
