Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris is not afraid of showing her breasts in public, she has declared.
Passaris who was elected to Parliament during the August 8 general elections after trouncing her main rival, Jubilees Rachel Shebesh said breastfeeding mothers should never be victimized for feeding their newly born children in public places.
The MP posted a photo of her breastfeeding online and said she would always be proud of the act because it is what brings life to earth.
She made the relation as women in Nairobi on May 15 demonstrated against an incident where a woman was ejected from a city restaurant for breastfeeding while waiting to be served her food.
"Standing in solidarity with those who are demonstrating today for the rights of mothers to breastfeed their babies without discrimination," she said after posting of a photo of her while breastfeeding.
"This has gone beyond my living room and I am proud, not ashamed, of my boob being visible. You have to be really 'sick' to sexualise breastfeeding. Look away if you must. But don't blame the mother for undertaking her God-given gift to nurture her offspring."
Olive Restaurant along Nairobi's Accra Road has since apologized for ejecting the breastfeeding woman.
