16 families in Lari constituency, Kiambu were left without shelter after fire broke out in the middle of the night and destroyed property of unknown value.

Jane Wanjiru Chege, a philanthropist and women leader in Kiambu County consoled the victims saying God is great as there were no casualties reported. The women leader donated clothes and food to the affected families. 

One woman whose property was consumed in the Tuesday night inferno narrated the ordeal saying that she was asleep save to her neighbour who woke her up. 

"It is Ngige, a neighbour of mine who called me and told me the house was under fire. I had to walk out naked due to fear. I saved nothing," she said.

Another victim, Aaron Ngige recounted his experience in the fateful night saying it was after chanting his evening prayer and getting ready for sleep when a hot wood beside his bed signalled danger.

The victims are now depending on neighbours and good samaritans for shelter and food. 

Jane Njoroge and Willy Njoroge who are leaders in the area are now pleading with good samaritans to come and assist the affected families as their belongings were burnt to ashes.
