With the current political situation in Homa Bay county amid the uncertainty surrounding the future of embattled Governor Cyprian Awiti, another political shocker may not be far away.

Dogged by graft allegations and with his fate now at the hands of the three Court of Appeal Judges who are set to rule on the High Court decision that nullified his win, Awiti, a key ally of NASA leader Raila Odinga is hoping for best. However, amid all this, a new political tsunami seems to be emerging.

Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers ( KUPPET) Secretary General Akello Misori is the man who is keenly following the governor's situation hoping to pounce on the opportunity to send the county chief home.

Just recently, he gave the embattled Governor three days to resign over claims that he had failed on his mandate. Governor Awiti is, however, yet to vacate office.

What if the Court of Appeal upholds the decision to nullify Awiti's win? There is no doubt that the new battle will go to the wire considering that his bitter rival in the last election Oyugi Magwangwa is waiting for a rematch. But with Misori, a teacher keen to replicate Okoth Obado's exploits in Migori, the new contest will be too close to call.

Before you know it , another teacher may soon be a Governor in Nyanza.
