Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has maintained that his 2022 presidential bid is unstoppable and unshakeable.
The ODM deputy party leader in a interview with a local daily on Monday said that he is firmly in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
According to Joho, he has what it takes to succeed Kenyatta who is serving his second and last term.
The vocal and flamboyant Mombasa governor states that he is serious in his bid.
As Governor Joho lobbies and prepares for 2022, here are top politicians who are likely to be his running mates in 2022.
1. Kalonzo Musyoka:
The Wiper party leader has also declared interest in the top seat in 2022.
Though Joho and Kalonzo don’t have tight political connections, political pundits observe that their partnership could excite voters in 2022.
2. William Ruto:
He is the Deputy President and has also declared interest in the 2022 top seat.
Ruto is banking on Mt Kenya and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s support for the top seat.
There have been claims that Governor Joho has reached out to DP Ruto to support his in 2022.
Joho and Ruto don’t enjoy cordial political relationship and the two have often engaged in ugly political spats.
The partnership between the two politicians could also excite voters according to political pundits.
3. Gideon Moi:
He is the Baringo senator serving his second term.
The KANU chairman has also declared interest in the presidential seat.
Moi and Joho has a close political relationship and their partnership could also secure a win according to political analysts.
4. Musalia Mudavadi:
He is the Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader.
Mudavadi also has close political ties with the Mombasa governor.
Joho could seek Mudavadi’s backing to win the Western votes.
Political analysts observe that Joho has an uphill task as he lobbies for 2022 bearing in mind that all indication show that ODM party leader Raila Odinga will be on the ballot in 2022.
