Jubilee Party has dismissed calls by the opposition for dialogue over an inclusive government.

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale said the talks were a scheme by NASA leadership to join the government through the back door.

Speaking to the Standard on Tuesday, Duale, who also serves as Garissa Township MP, said the ruling party would only dialogue about development and not on power sharing as the opposition 'intends'.

"We can only dialogue about development and not any other issue," he said.

His remarks come a day after NASA principals met at Karen County Club, Nairobi, to discuss their willingness to have talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration over forming an all-inclusive government, electoral and police reforms.

After a five-hour meeting on Monday, the opposition leaders also agreed to push on with the planned swearing-in of the NASA leaders on January 31, if Jubilee doesn't invite them for dialogue.

Duale said the ruling party was not disturbed by the plans to take an oath by NASA leaders, but advised the Odinga-led coalition to play its 'rightful' role of opposition having lost elections last year.

"NASA MPs have taken their seats in Parliament as the opposition wing and we as Jubilee have also taken our seats as the ruling side," he said.

The Majority Leader added: "They have taken the watchdog committees- Public Accounts Committee and Public Investments Committee- which are chaired by the Opposition members."
