Shollei now needs approval by Members of Parliament to chair the Committee on Delegated Legislation.
Another proposal by President Uhuru Kenyatta is Kajiado South MP Katoo ole Metito.
He will await parliament approval to head the defense committee.
Sabina Chege (Health), David Pkosing (Transport), Kimani Ichung’wa (Budget), Kareke Mbiuki (Environment), Joseph Limo (Finance), Ali Wario (Labour), Rachael Nyamai (Lands), William Cheptumo (Justice and Legal Affairs), Kieni’s Kanini Kega (Energy)Paul Koinange (Security), Tinderet MP Julius Melly (Education committee) and Jeremiah Kioni (Cohesion) are other names fronted to head various committees.
There was opposition from various legislatures but President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto intervened. For instance, leaders from Turkana and Pokot counties complained about lack of inclusion despite their regions facing alarming insecurity.
“For example, none of the MPs from Pokot and Turkana counties are represented in the Defence and National Security committees, yet the region is faced with insecurity challenges,” Turkana South MP James Lomenen told the Star.
