Speaking during a National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) conference held in Eldoret town, Chemno expressed his disappointment in the manner in which the judiciary deals with cases relating to drugs.

"I want to register my disappointment with the way the judiciary is dealing with drug cases. They always issue orders that curtail our fight against those involved in the illegal business," noted the Deputy governor.

Chemno, however, hailed the police in the county and the alcoholic controls board for a job well done that has led to a drastic drop in cases of illicit liquor.

"We had over 4,000 bars when we took over in 2013 but as we speak, we only have about 1,900 across the county," he said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by the NACADA national chair Lt.Col(Rtd) Julius Githiri who called upon the parents and media houses to educate the young people on the effects of alcohol and drugs.

"Drugs and alcohol have no benefits to the body and this is a conversation all of us should take to the dining table for our young people to clearly get it," said Githiri.
