Juja MP Francis Waititu has vowed to ensure poor families in the constituency get affordable health services throughout his tenure.

The lawmaker speaking in Juja town on Saturday after returning into the country from India where he has been undergoing treatment for brain cancer, said he will not watch people struggle to buy drugs such diseases while he watches.

 “Poor families will be helped to get affordable drugs to enable them heal quickly. CDF funds will be allocated to enroll constituents who are unable to pay for NHIF monthly so that in case of any illness locals can get treatment at any facility,” he said. 

Waititu also asked private health clinics in the area to stop exploiting locals by charging them exorbitantly. 

“Private clinics should stop hiking prices for drugs unnecessarily. Locals should report anyone selling drugs at hiked prices because such drugs may have been acquired using the backdoor from the public health centers,” added Waititu. 

He promised that CDF funds will also be allocated to establish a cancer center in the constituency to allow locals get screened early enough for treatment in case they test positive for cancer.

“A cancer center will be set in the region to help cancer patients who won’t afford money to travel abroad to be treated in the country,” he assured.
