Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday morning, Kabogo said it is hard for Kenya to hold free and fair elections because some people won't allow others to be elected.

"Free and fair elections are difficult to achieve in Kenya. This is not because Kenyans do not know how to vote, but because some people do not want others to be voted in," said the former governor.

The comment elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans, with a section of Twitter users accusing the politician of being a sore loser.

Here are some of their reactions:

@CSuldaan: "You’re wrong elections were a sham, and free and fair elections are near impossibility in Kenya."

@YouthKenyan: "You should have said these things earlier... Before 2017..."

@johntymuch: "IEBC gave us the best elections ever, it's only that we have some jittered losers, wasiokubali kushidwa! Elections in Africa are never lost but stolen???"

@domcheruyot: "Hon Kabogo should stop blaming the system for his loss in August. He bragged too much and abused women. You lost fairly Sir. People protested against you."

@centie: "Hours ago you told Thika people to buy V8s and helicopters so they should stop complaining about roads. That's why ulitolewa ....1+1=2 quick maths ...wacha kuleta rocket science."

@MadoldenM: "That's true as Kabogo put it, he said it all about African leaders especially the incumbents who are always hesitant to allow others to be voted in!!!"

@KenGathirwa: "Kabogo you are a great leader but don't be like Sonko who keeps on looking for people to blame for your woes."

@NuuKathanze: "It hurts when it happens to you - now that you know, what are you planning to do to make sure this is never repeated again."

@OriedoGeorge: "Mwananchi does not decide it's the system."

@Marynjo: "That's true sir, nevertheless, we voters have become wiser."
