Kalonzo said the move will help streamline government in terms of fighting corruption.

According to the former Vice President, effective measures needs to be implemented to curb graft.

Kalonzo while lauding the life style audit order, also wants the same to be extended to retired government officials.

He said that time has come for everyone to account for what he or she owns.

The former VP said that the life style audit and vetting of state officers will bear fruits in the fight against corruption.

Kalonzo asked President Kenyatta not to show mercy to anyone found culpable of stealing from taxpayers coffers.

"The president must be brutal as he fights agsinst the monster called corruption," Kalonzo said as quoted by a local daily.

Kalonzo at the same time urged Kenyans to unite against corruption.

Last week, President Kenyatta called for the lifestyle audit of all government officers.

President Kenyatta said he will be the first to undergo the audit.

During the Madaraka day celebrations early this month, President Kenyatta also ordered for vetting of all government procurement and accounting officers as the fight against corruption intensifies.

Last month, 46 suspects among them Suspended PS Lilian Omollo were charged with corruption offenses relating to the alleged theft of Sh9 billion at the National Youth Service (NYS).

The suspects are currently remanded at the Nairobi's Industrial Area and Langata prisons.
