Speaking for the first time since the governor's election victory nullification, Kalonzo said Machakos residents will have another opportunity to make their choice.

Kalonzo said the party will fully rally behind Wavinya Ndeti and ensure she clinches the seat in case of a by-election.

“We are prepared, Wavinya Ndeti is prepared and the Machakos people will make their choice when the time comes,” Kalonzo said.

Mutua, however, called for calm among Machakos residents.

He said there is no point of politicians engaging in ugly spats over the new political developments.

Governor Mutua’s election was nullified by the Court of Appeal two weeks ago on grounds that IEBC failed to conduct free a and fair elections.

The appellate court ordered for fresh gubernatorial election in Machakos County.

Mutua has appealed the Court of Appeal's ruling at the Supreme Court exuding confidence that he will be reinstated as Machakos governor.

On the other hand, Wavinya Ndeti has urged her supporters and Machakos locals to prepare for a by-election.

Last week, Mutua suffered another blow after the county assembly passed a motion to have him impeached.
