Conspicuously, the two were absent in Raila Odinga's inauguration last month, a move that did not go well with NASA supporters.

And in an interview with The Nairobian, Arati, a close confidant of Odinga, said the two cannot be trusted in political field.

"They are cowards. I want to tell them to their face that they are cowards. They are giving funny excuses for missing swearing in.

"Nobody can trust them and that is a bad sign. In politics, you fight for what you believe in," he fired at the two leaders.

For weeks now, the two have been giving with contradicting excuses with Kalonzo claiming that they were under house arrest, a narrative that he later changed.

Early this week, Mudavadi had claimed that Raila abandoned them in a city hotel before leaving to Uhuru Park.
