Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called for arrest and prosecution of individuals and companies linked to the contraband ‘poisonous’ sugar.

Kalonzo says that those behind the contraband sugar and products are murderers who should be dealt with mercilessly.

According to the former Vice President, anyone who endangers the health of Kenyans is a big enemy who belongs to jail.

Kalonzo asked security and investigative agencies to continue the crackdown.

“These people must be arrested and prosecuted in a court of law for putting millions of Kenyans lives at risk,” he said on Wednesday.

Kalonzo stated that no one should be spared including politicians who have been allegedly linked to the contraband products.

He asked Kenyans to be cautious about what they consume following revelations that the imported sugar has laces of mercury and copper.

Mercury and copper are harmful to human health.

The government has intensified a crackdown on contraband sugar and other products even as a section of politicians demand the arrest of culprits.

Pressure is mounting on Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to expose politicians and wealthy individuals allegedly behind the poisonous sugar.

On Tuesday, Garissa Township MP Aden Duale accused Matiang’i of allegedly protecting unscrupulous businessmen behind the contraband sugar.

The MP also blamed National Treasury CS Henry Rotich for allegedly giving ‘duty-free’ to some companies importing sugar.

Duale claimed that Million bags of contraband sugar is lying in Nakuru, Mombasa, and Nairobi.
