This is according to former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim.

Maalim said Mutua will face an uphill task convincing Machakos people to vote for him in case of a by-election.

He said the governor's fierce rival Wavinya Ndeti stands a better chance to win in a by-election.

Maalim said Machakos politics has taken a different direction hence Mutua should brace himself for a tough battle.

"Governor Mutua will have a lot of work to do convincing people to vote for him in case the county goes to a by-election," Maalim said.

He spoke during an interview on KTN News on Saturday.

Maalim said Ndeti's political influence and support base has increased following her Court of Appeal's victory.

"As it stands now, Wavinya Ndeti is the favorite to win the seat in a by-election," Maalim added.

Maalim, who is also Wiper Party's deputy leader said they are ready for a by-election.

He, however, called for calm among Machakos residents.

The Court of Appeal nullified Mutua's election victory two weeks ago on grounds that it was not free and fair.

The appellate court ordered the IEBC to conduct ct fresh gubernatorial election.

Governor Mutua has since appealed the appellate court's ruling at the Supreme Court.

Last week, Mutua suffered another big blow after the Machakos County Assembly voted to have him impeached.
