Musyoka was later forced to apologize to QTV journalist after “#SomeoneTellKalonzoMusyoka” became the trending phrase on social media platforms for a couple of days.  Speaking at Kariene Catholic Church in Central Imenti, Meru County, where he attended Sunday Mass together with Mr Murithi, Kalonzo asked him for forgiveness following mixed reactions from a different faction.

Murithi had asked Mr Musyoka what the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) thought about "failures" of the ruling Jubilee government. Kalonzo asked him his name and media house he was working for before telling him his name betrayed him.

The Ukambani political kingpin decided to bow to pressure and withdrew the remarks.

“Many people went to social media and told me all manner of nasty things. Some even wished death for me, but today I want to say how sorry I am to my son, Mr Murithi, and all Kenyans at large,” he said.

He also said that he was fully behind the fight against tribalism, adding that his remarks were not promoting ethnicity as claimed by a section of leaders.
