Speaking during a press briefing in Machakos, the members of clergy called on Uhuru to include the Kamba community in government appointments.

The members of the United Kamba Clergy and the Kamba Governing Council of Elders said the President should consider the region despite delivering a few votes to Jubilee in last year’s election.

Led by United Kamba Clergy Secretary General Joel Nzomo, the leaders asked the President and his deputy William Ruto not to sideline the community in government appointments, to ensure the region benefits from various development projects.

“I am making an appeal to the president not to consider the few votes we gave him from Ukambani. Delivering the votes to Uhuru and his deputy Ruto was not an easy task considering the region is an opposition stronghold,” said Nzomo.

”I’m appealing to him to consider our sons and daughters when it comes to appointments in the government,” he added.

Nzomo argued that the appointments would ensure development is realised in the region.

On his part, Redeemed Gospel Church Archbishop said Kenyans should now focus on developing the country instead of engaging in endless politicking.

“It is high time Kenyans moved forward and concentrate on matters of development because endless politicking is a recipe for poverty and economic stagnation,” said Arthur Kitonga.

The Kamba leaders further said it was important for the three counties of Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui to hold a collective leadership meeting 'to have a conversation about the place of the Kamba community in the country’s political arena'.
