The national chess league kicked off on Saturday 14th at KCB Sports club Ruaraka.

16 teams participated in the season opener outing that lasted for 2 hours. 

"We are very much excited to have started the league on a high note, KCB won massively today and it’s a sign of good things to come," said Isaac Babu, KCB Team manager. 

KCB emerged victorious beating Kings club 5-0 during their fixture. Kamau Jackson playing on board one, Joseph Methu playing board two, Ben Nguku was playing board three, Gohil playing board four and Gloria Gweyani playing board five represented the bankers during the outing. 

The 2018 national chess league has seen Central Bank Of Kenya join the growing list of clubs. 

There are currently 22 teams that will be battling for a cash prize of Sh200,000 for the winner at the end of the season.
