Seven Kenyatta University on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to two criminal charges before Kiambu senior principal magistrate Stella Atambo.

The students are accused of setting on fire Kenyatta University administration block on November 16, 2017.

They faced a second count that they maliciously damaged property, which was inside the building all valued at Sh13 million. The accused - David Amisi, David Morara, Dominic Orwa, Eric Mutuku, George Nguru, Trevor Agoi and Victor Wafula denied the charges.

In their submission, they called upon the court to consider them as students and have never been arraigned in court before.

The accused will have to wait until Thursday, for the magistrate to make a determination of their bail bond application.

The seven will be held at Kiambu police station where they have spent nights since were arrested on January 9.
