Wa Muchomba instead wants the politicians to channel their support to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s development agenda.

Speaking to journalists in Kikuyu Town on Thursday, Wa Muchomba warned that debating 2022 politics will derail Uhuru’s development  agenda.

“I want to urge my colleagues in Jubilee to stop this succession debate and work with President Uhuru Kenyatta on his development legacy,” she said.

The Kiambu Women Rep said that 2022 politics is insignificant for now but the  fact remains that the Mt Kenya region will support Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid.

She also cautioned the media against steering succession politics.

She accused the media of speculating on 2022 politics and causing anxiety among some politicians.

Succession politics is already playing out in Jubilee Party as president Kenyatta serves his second and last term.

A section of Mt Kenya politicians have been quoted saying that it will not be automatic for the region to support deputy president William Ruto’s 2022 bid.

Last week, former Kiambu governor William Kabogo allegedly told DP  Ruto that Mt Kenya locals are not ‘wheelbarrows’ to be pushed to support him in 2022.

The Deputy President is seeking to succeed Uhuru whose term ends in 2022 and is banking on Mt Kenya support as per their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

There have been speculations of fallout between Uhuru and Ruto over the partial cabinet changes made last week.

The Deputy President has however refuted such claims noting that they are in good terms and that he fully supports the cabinet changes.

Uhuru is s expected to make more changes as he restructures his government in his second and last term.
