The problem of poor roads in Nairobi's Kibera area will soon be a thing of the past after an assurance from the county government to repair them.

Speaking after launching road repair works in Donholm, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko said he had lined up more repair activities and would be entering Kibra soon.

He asked residents to update him on the roads they wanted fixed, adding that his government will strive to see that the project comes to a success.

"Wananchi wa Donholm hiyo Barabara yenu imeanza. Next tunakuja kuanza Kasarani, Mihango, Dogoreti, Westlands, Maduu, Umoo, South B, South C, Langata, Kibra, Mathare. Hebu plse munichanue zile Barabara munataka tuzifanye na bidii," he posted on his official Facebook page.

This translates as: Residents of Donholm, we are already fixing that road. In our next phases we are moving to Kasarani, Mihango, Dagoretti, Westlands, Maduu, Umoja, South B, South C, Langata, Kibra and Mathare. Please update me on the roads you want us to prioritise."

The governor has been going to the ground with his Sonko Rescue Team in a bid to clean up Nairobi.

He has also been patching potholes in the city after acquiring a pothole-filling machine for the county government.
