Kisii County security department has received 25 police Land Cruisers which shall be used to strengthen security lapses which have been seen in the recent past.

Addressing residents at Gusii stadium, deputy president William Ruto said that the police vehicles will be used for patrolling war-prone areas which led to skirmishes in the recent past.

“We have given this County 25 police vehicles in bid to reinforce security department so that to improve security which has been said to be deteriorating,” he said.

Ruto, however, used the platform to urge warring community along Kisii-Trans Mara border to stop the perennial fights which have led to massive loss of property and at some point lives.

“We have reached a point at which we must stop border attacks involving communities. I am appealing to all warring communities to put their differences aside and adopt policy of peaceful coexistence,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Kisii County deputy governor Joash Maangi who said that it is not in order for the country to allow inter-community fights, adding that the security docket should ensure that maximum security is provided.

“Matters related to security docket should be left to the police, no citizen is allowed to slaughter the other as a mechanism to solve conflicts. We have a legal system that wananchi can resort to or other traditional dialogue,” he said.
